Values of a friend
''Good friends are like stars, you don't always see them, but you know they are always there.''
I believe everyone has at least a friend in our life, and the significance of friend is way beyond words.
The value of having real friends is that they are able to boost your self-esteem, by complimenting you.
A true friend would be the one giving you a helping hand when you’re in need, lending you a listening ear when you need someone to talk to. Some factors of a true friend would have to include
- Honesty
- Loyalty
- Good listener
- Supportive
- Caring
- Dependable
Consequences of being socially isolated
"Loneliness is a state of mind''
With the advancement in technology, more and more people are joining social media.
These people are able to make more friends online.
However, a study by Cornell University indicates that although the average Facebook user has 130 “friends”, in reality, we slightly have more than two close, real friends.

If this trend were to continue, people who are socially isolated have a greater risk of having health issues.
- Depression
- Stress related chronic conditions
- Being extreme fatigue
- Hallucinations
Importance of friends
Friends are important as
- They are our pillars of strength
- They are the ones that are willing to comfort and gives us moral support
- They are the ones who are honest and straightforward. They will tell you what they dislike about you, therefore changing you into a better person and a better friend.
All in all, everyone needs a friend in life if not our life would be mundane and dull.
